Featured Connection: The Jewish Exiles (1933)

The Hitler Exiles after 1933
Perhaps as many as 2,000 people once active in the German film industry were forced into exile when the Nazis came to power in Germany in 1933. This talented diaspora spread out all over the globe, but many of these refugees ended up in Hollywood. Only a handful of them were able to gain fame and fortune in California, but all of them made some contribution to “American” cinema from the 1930s into the 1950s and beyond.
